Sebastian sighed, plopping down on the couch. Camilla trotted up to him and shoved her nose onto his leg, staring at him to convince him to pet her. With a tiny grin, Sebastian complied, stroking his Dalmatian's head with the back of his hand, mainly his knuckles. He had just been out for a nice, hard ride with Sinbad, the vicious brat. The gelding actually tried to buck him off today, and then almost bit a student. It would be a sad day if Sebastian ever was told to get rid of his first horse.
The timer ding!ed, and Sebastian rose, walking back over to the small kitchen. The hour was up and his chocolate hazelnut bark snack was complete. He had been working on it on and off while in the barn. Considering it was a Sunday afternoon, there wasn't much else to be done. Sebastian took a bite of one of the pieces and closed his eyes, letting himself fall into the decadent low-calorie snack. Dark chocolate and nuts and cherries and ginger, perfect. "This is the good life, huh, Cam?" he chuckled, rubbing Camilla's head and catching a tiny chocolate covered nut hanging off the edge of his lip. |

She just clean the horse up and she was very thirsty so she decided to walk in the staff lounge to get some water or an soda that when she saw her riding teacher eating something and petting his dog Camilla. Sage actually loved the Dalmatian. "Hello Mr. Holloway."
as she went to the ice box that was in the small kitchen. Sage grabbed an 2 bottle of water and hand one to Sebastian. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sebastian noticed Sage come in. She was a sophomore, but she was a pretty good rider. He didn't have her in any of his classes, though, so he just knew her from teacher-talk and from around the barn. From all he knew, she was pretty nice. Camilla certainly liked her, though. The Dalmatian jumped up and wagged her tail, her tongue hanging out of her doggishly smiling mouth, when Sage entered and pet her. She tried to lick the student's hand, though the girl had already moved away by then.
Accepting the water bottle with his free hand, Sebastian said, “Thanks, Sage.” |
Generously, he offered, “Hey, you want some snack? It’s dark chocolate and hazelnuts and cherry and ginger; I call it Chocolate Hazelnut Bark. Well, I mean, that’s what it’s called officially, anyway, so.” The young teacher smiled. Sometimes he was thought to be a student; it used to annoy him a lot, but he didn’t care much now. Sebastian moved back toward the couch, water bottle and snacks in hand, Camilla sticking to his left leg like glue. “I saw you out on Baby Blue today. Looking good. I was a little worried she might have been trying to get away from you with some of those higher jumps, but I definitely have been seeing improvement in you, both of you, recently.” With a quiet chuckle, Sebastian opened his water bottle and took a sip. He added, somewhat quietly, but definitely jovially, “It boosts my ego to think it has been my lessons in the past couple of weeks.” Sebastian didn’t normally get to stick with his students for a long time; he was a newish (as in, under four years) teacher and instructor, so his schedule changed a lot, and he got to work with a lot of students – but for less time and less in depth. as she walked over to an armchair and sat down with her piece of Chocolate Hazelnut Bark, and water bottle she stuff the rest the Chocolate Hazelnut Bark in her mouth. Then she opened her water bottle and took an slip of it. "Thanks I been practice anytime I get chance to ride. Camilla trotted over to sit by Sage, her tail thumping softly on the floor whenever she was pet. Camilla truly was an affectionate girl, even if she was a bit shy. "Camilla" seemed sometimes like a misnomer, for how could such a demure creature have any connection to the great, epic female warrior?
"Thank you," |
Sebastian replied to the compliment. Compliments were never wasted; and three years later, he still had trouble getting used to that whole "sir" thing. It didn't seem like so long ago that he was speaking to those now his colleagues that way. "Got the recipe of the internet. Don't tell." He grinned and winked, stage whispering as though he were telling a great secret. Ahh, and whenever a student asked for advice, Sebastian's eyes lit up and his heart was set ablaze. Maybe it wasn't so clear now, since he was fairly tired, but he was able to reply with his thoughts. "I think I would say, to start off, she's a pretty confident, dominant horse, so keep that in mind. All the training in the world isn't going to change her personality. When you can, just do some half-halting, backing up, tight circles, that sort of thing, the usual to keep her under you. If she grabs ahold of the bit, she might try to run with you or tear the reins. I haven't seen this behavior from her yet, but I've seen horses go that next step if they feel they can get away with anything." Sebastian paused to take a bite from his snack and sip his water. "Now, I think Baby Blue's a good horse, but even the best can go in that direction without a constant, consistent strong hand. Does that make sense?" Part of Sebastian's teaching style was always to try to make sure that every student understood. It was time- and energy-consuming, but he felt that his students got it better. Most people, especially teenagers, are rather averse to asking questions, so opening the way for them helps. Sage kept on rubbing Camilla as she listen to Sebastian advice. She thought that Sebastian knew lot about horses. She hope when she finish schooling she knew as much that Mr. Holloway knows about horse back riding. "I will try it on my next ride this week."
Sage got from the couch and walk over to kitchen and took another piece of the Chocolate Hazelnut Bark and brought it back to the armchair. "I have found this recipe on the internet and make for my parents on school holiday." She took another bit of the Chocolate Hazelnut Bark bar. "Maybe sometime we could have an private lesson, or ride together?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sebastian suddenly decided he would probably take a nap when he got back to his apartment, but, for now, he was completely involved in his conversation with this student. He took another bite of his homemade chocolate bar, then sipped some more water. He was pretty thirsty, now that he was reminded of it. Finishing off his snack food in his hand, he chuckled, "Lucky parents, they get to see their kid and have delicious chocolate on holiday. I just get to grade papers." |
He grinned at Sage. Her suggestion didn't take him by surprise; he had kind of been expecting that. An extra lesson would mean more money from her and more work for him, so that probably wouldn't be the best. A ride, though, that... that would be fun. So long as Sinbad was nice, which he could be. Sometimes. On trails, he tended to be mean first, and then fall into an easy routine of just not making eye contact. "A ride would be really nice, I think. It could help you work with controlling her when there's another horse around -- sometimes that can get them all worked up, y'know? I'd be happy to." As Sebastian was talking, he rose from his comfortable seat to wash his hands, turning on the faucet with his wrist and raising his voice ever-so-slightly to speak over the water. "I'm on duty Sunday next week, so maybe Saturday?" he offered, turning to face her. As he spoke, he was wondering where the plastic wrap, sticky notes, and pens were. He was going to leave the snacks in the fridge for anyone who wanted them. Those supplies were in there somewhere... he knew they were. The young teacher, however, didn't bother to start looking for them while he was chatting. He'd at least wait for her to respond before he grabbed them. Sage watched Mr. Holloway get up from the couch to clean up their mess they made from their yummy snack. Sage took another drink of her ice cold water. "I have nothing going on Saturday of this week. What time are you think of Sebastian." She for he was teacher and instructor, he look more like an student then a teacher. She realized she called Sebastian she thought she called Mr. Holloway like she been doing with their snack talk.

Although Sebastian noticed Sage's slip-up, calling him by his first name rather than his last, he didn't really care. It was a boarding school, people grow close, and he knew it wasn't coming from a place of disrespect. So he said nothing on it. Instead, he pondered her inquiry of what time. "I'd be pretty good with just about any time, I think." |
As Sebastian tried to conjure up a better answer, he recalled immediately where the plastic wrap was, as well as the other materials he needed. Wrapping up the plate and the chocolate bars, he continued, "I mean, it depends on what you'd prefer, Sage. An early morning ride, mid-morning, early afternoon, evening? Whenever you feel best doing it. I'll be around, y'know." As he pulled a sticky note out of a drawer and wrote on it, PLEASE EAT, he thought about maybe giving her his number to make planning easier. Perhaps. If she didn't have a preference, he would, so that she could text or call him later about it, if she made a decision. Otherwise, he could make a decision later, maybe Friday, if she hadn't already. For Sebastian, mostly it just depended on weather forecasts. He didn't have a preference for riding time: he loved riding at all times. Sage smiled at Sebastian . He was no t like most faculty if you called them by their first name you get your ass chew off. "I am shocked you didn't yell at me calling you Sebastian instead of Mr. Holloway."
Maybe people was wrong about him being strict in her eyes he was not. "Umm how about 9 or 10 on Saturday morning?" as she washed her hands at the kitchen sink that was in the staff lounge. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sebastian finished writing the words on the sticky note and slapped it on the plastic wrap, being careful not to pierce it with the pointy edges of his delicious dark chocolate and nut and cherry and wonderfulness concoction. "That works for me, Saturday morning after breakfast. Depending on the weather, we could go for a trail ride." |
Sebastian would love that. Trail rides... the best. He used to do events, which was why he still had all that tack, but he truly just loved being around the horses. There wasn't much better than the sweet company of the admittedly oversized creatures. To Sage's other inquiry, Sebastian turned around and shrugged, returning to his seat on the couch. Camilla's tail thumped at his return, though she didn't move from her spot, where she was enjoying the glory of mindless petting attention. "I know you didn't mean to be disrespectful or demeaning in any way, so it didn't matter. It was a simple mistake, and it's whatever." Also he didn't like yelling at people. But this time, he actually didn't care. It was still his name; first or last, didn't much matter with a student. [/div] NOTES: bleh low muse | WORDS: 187 Template made by Rabiddog

Camilla wagged her tail when Sage pet her again, and she continued to wag when she noticed that Sebastian was grinning at her dogginess. The teacher also was listening to Sage, though, and he nodded. "Absolutely," |
he agreed. A trail ride would be nice. It'd been a while since he'd been on one -- and it might've been for her, too, since students weren't allowed to ride trails on their own. Sebastian had come upon some sometimes, but he usually just feels so guilty that he would be ruining a perfectly nice ride, and he slinks away. But he wouldn't have to here because it would be totally within in the rules because he'd be there officially! Rising to his feet, Sebastian groaned quietly. He was a little sore and couldn't wait for his next shower. "I'll be working in the barn Saturday morning, probably starting pretty early, so whenever you feel like coming, nine or ten or any time in between, I'll be here." Sinbad would get a workout in manners, Sebastian decided. The gelding needed to learn to be nice at least some of the time. Occasionally, Sebastian considered getting a different horse, selling Sinbad -- or maybe giving him away. And then he'd feel terrible and he'd remember how he loved the horse and how he was a gift from his family and so on and so forth, and so nothing ever came of those sporadic inklings. Camilla, noticing her master standing, hopped up and trotted over loyally to his side, sticking to his leg like glue. Sage kept petting Camilla until she walked away from her to go master when he stood up. "You have Camilla very well."
Then she finished her bottle of water. "I can came early to help you work around the barn, It will be fun."Sage knew that Mr. Holloway as his hand full teaching Sinbad some manner by Saturday she saw the horse in action a few times. Sinbad had an bad attitude all the students see it. No one walked near by Sinbad's stall sometimes when the horse having an bad attitude day.
